In sports, every athlete learns how to "play hurt" playing through injury. Playing hurt separates good athletes from great athletes. Similar to sports, many times in ministry the pastor must "play hurt!" He does not have the liberty to take time to heal, like a franchise player on a professional team. The only difference is that the owners of the organization understands how valuable the franchise player is and wouldn't risk him being injured or experiencing a career ending collision. One would think that the church would take a page out of the professional team owner's manual and protect the franchise player. Who is the franchise player?  The Pastor.
